Swinton Lock Activity Centre is a trusted safe space, committed to delivering emotional, social and wellbeing services, which are community led.
We are based adjacent to the South Yorkshire Navigational Canal and own two narrow boats, one of which is fully accessible. Both boats are used to offer boat-handling courses, volunteering opportunities and pleasure trips to both children and adults.

Room Hire
Our location, facilities and ample parking also make Swinton Lock an ideal location for meetings, conferences and parties.
Boat Trips & Training
Join our experienced crew for a relaxing cruise along the canal. Learn how to skipper the boat and manage locks.
Open Days
We also hold regular open days where you can come to meet the staff and sample many of the activities we have to offer.

Youth Group- FREE. Tuck shop available. Booking not required.
age 7-11, starts at 4pm. Pick up 4:55pm. Adult/ parent sign in is mandatory and pick up must be arranged at drop off if someone else is picking up your child.
Age 12-16, starts at 5pm. Open gate policy, last sign in time is 6:30pm. Signing out time is 7pm.

Our toddler and baby group is back and ready to welcome you to the new Cabin! With our staff and a huge variety of new and donated toys, we are excited to see you all back THIS week.
This group will run every Thursday, at 9:15am. With booking being preferred but not essential. We understand that parenthood can throw curve balls where planning is concerned, so if you fancy dropping in but haven’t booked please do come by and we will always do our best to accommodate you.
Our group will be held in the Cabin, which is located in the car park at the Lock. There is limited parking space, so please be mindful if you end up parking in the surrounding area.
The group is FREE! A great place for parents and carers to meet other adults and for their little ones learning to socialise too! Break out of the house and see a friendly face, while your little one explores our cabin safely and surrounded by a wonderful selection of toys and learning experiences.

Youth group returns TODAY!! Both sessions are FREE, but a tuck shop is open for kids to get themselves pop and snacks.
The younger age group is a closed gate session- a parent or trusted adult must sign them in and out, for drop off and collection. If the child is being picked up by a different person, please make staff aware at drop off.
The older group session is an open gate policy- so all kids are free to leave as they like without supervision.
Join us for games, pool table, crafts, and fun socialising with friends. Keep them busy in a safe environment with our staff- all for free.
