Swinton Lock Activity Centre is a trusted safe space, committed to delivering emotional, social and wellbeing services, which are community led.
We are based adjacent to the South Yorkshire Navigational Canal and own two narrow boats, one of which is fully accessible. Both boats are used to offer boat-handling courses, volunteering opportunities and pleasure trips to both children and adults.

Room Hire
Our location, facilities and ample parking also make Swinton Lock an ideal location for meetings, conferences and parties.
Boat Trips & Training
Join our experienced crew for a relaxing cruise along the canal. Learn how to skipper the boat and manage locks.
Open Days
We also hold regular open days where you can come to meet the staff and sample many of the activities we have to offer.

Half term has been a busy week for the Lock. We started off strong with some great work from a group of volunteers who cleared the park. Thank you as always for your service! We appreciate all our volunteers who work so hard.
The lucky duck hunt winners got to take their winning boat trips! We hope you all enjoyed the time on board the ‘Spirit’.
We hosted three days of Halloween boat trips, and saw some spooky adventures with some great costumes from staff and guests. Our Halloween Event was a great day full of fun and activities.
Curry Night saw over 45 guests visit our community Kitchen Event. Special thanks goes out to the staff and volunteers who cooked, cleaned and served all night, but also to all the lovely people who came and made it a successful night.
What’s next at the Lock?
Breakfast club starts back tomorrow morning. Every Monday and Wednesday. Free food for kids and a great way to start their day.
Walking club every Wednesday. 10am meet at the Lock. Being weather proof clothing. Free group!
Youth group every Thursday, 4-4:55pm for 7-11 year olds.
12+ years old 5-7. Free, but a tuck shop is run on site, for children to buy snacks. Juice and water is free.
Ladies group and Men In Sheds are back to their usual times.

Our Santa Cruises are one hour long- a bit like our community boat trips but better. Santa and his elves will be on board too and every child will get a gift. The hour long slot will give your family, especially the children, plenty of time to ask Santa all the questions and get as many photos as you like. The boat will be decorated and staff will all be dressed up for the occasion too. It’s a truly personal Santa experience, getting you into the festive spirit.
Tickets cost £10 per person- every passenger needs a ticket regardless of age.

Our Halloween Event is ready and waiting to welcome guests. We have Halloween boat trips today- although they are fully booked already. We have plenty of fun here at the lock for the local community to come and take a look. Tombola, crafts, food and beverages available to purchase.
